The Charles Shaw label is best known for producing wines of “extreme value.” These became popular when marketed exclusively out of Trader Joe’s grocery chain for $1.99, known commonly as “Two Buck Chuck.” It is owned by the Bronco Wine Company out of Ceres, California. The wines are produced from the usual suspect grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Zinfandel (as White Zinfandel “blush” wine). The Valdiguie style is produced to mimic Beaujolais Nouveau wines, and Pinot Grigio in limited quantities.

Also, that sediment in older wines had to do with the oak.It prompted me to search for some additional articles or info on oak. Found this random ... Read More

  • Charles Shaw Cabernet Sauvignon California 2007

Its not my favorite wine, but who can complain for about 2.40 a bottle. I mean this is cheaper than orange juice. Has a very robust flavor, with hints of earth. plus this less than $3 bottle of wine still F*cks you up the same as a $30 Import!! (this is the only reason it receives a 3 glass score from me) Read More
