Charles Shaw Sauvignon Blanc California (2004)
| Winery: | Charles Shaw Winery |

| Type: | Table Wines |
The Charles Shaw label is best known for producing wines of “extreme value.” These became popular when marketed exclusively out of Trader Joe’s grocery chain for $1.99, known commonly as “Two Buck Chuck.” It is owned by the Bronco Wine Company out of Ceres, California. The wines are produced from the usual suspect grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Zinfandel (as White Zinfandel “blush” wine). The Valdiguie style is produced to mimic Beaujolais Nouveau wines, and Pinot Grigio in limited quantities.

My husband and I tried the 2011 "vintage" of this red table wine, and really enjoyed it. We are your basic wine novices, but we've taste loads of reds at our local wine store, and this is really comparable with some very nice reds. It is dry, and the tannins are present but mild. We detected notes of black cherry, berries, & plum. This rating co... Read More

If anyone has tried this quiet and extremely affordable wine, you will no doubt be surprised by it's quality. For the price and consistancy, it has a great following. All I can say is to try it. You just might be surprised.

It is also we thank TRADER JOE'S for moving into Omaha Ne, otherwise I do not think we would have seen this great Wite Zinfandel 2009. Greg T is correct that Gallo is involved in Gascon, but, they are still owned by the same family they have been for a century. Gallo distributes them due to their huge distribution chain already in place along with many others such as Martin Codax, Davinci, and Ecco Domani.
