After Marty and Mary Jo Strussion purchased the property, they soon decided that it would be the perfect place to retire. The first 7 acres of grapevines were planted in 2001. An additional 7 acres were planted in 2002. Caring for the vines by hand has quickly become a family affair. The vineyard boasts 4 varieties of grapes: Chardonel, Traminette, Chambourcin and Cynthiana/Norton. The first harvest of these vines was in August 2003. Our tasting room is located on top of our natural cave wine cellar! Start your cave experience here by browsing the gift shop and sampling wines made from grapes grown here at our vineyard. Once you've selected your wine of choice, we invite you to enjoy the cave or take in the scenic views of the vineyard and rolling hills from the pavilion. Picnic baskets are welcome, however, we do offer a variety of cheese and sausage and would be happy to pack a basket for you! – Description from markomkc

Cave Vineyard on Snooth

  • Hi all!Hoping to wade into interesting wine talk (and food talk).  Me, I've been seriously enjoying and exploring wine for just over 20 years. On the red side, right now I'm partial to wines from Spain and the Rhone valley, but other loves are Oregon pinots, really good Italian wines (yes, it's endless, but that's the fun), and wanting to try mu... Love the wines but the space is getting a little tight...)So it seemed lik... Read More

  • We're heading back to (my favorite wine region) Russian River the first weekend in October and are looking for advice on what to do and what to expect.  We've been to RRV several times but only during the off season.  Is there anything special we should do at this time of year, and conversely, is there anything we should avoid? • Strussione Cave Rock Red Missouri Sweet Red NV

    Snoothrank:

The wine has a deep ruby color and moderate and youthful notes of cherries. The palate is sweet and dominated by flavors of marzipan and fresh grapes with low acid and tannins. The wine seems well balanced with a slight excess of sweetness. The wine would serve well with desert. Read More

  • Strussione Cave Rock Off Dry NV

    Snoothrank:

Light youthful floral aromas with a light semi-dry and crisp palate with a medium spicy finish. The wine seems disjointed (alcohol) and may benefit from decanting, which could let it open up slightly. Read More

  • I am a very casual wine drinker and just "won" a bottle of sparkling wine in a family gift exchange from my cooky, eccentric aunt that I can't identify anywhere.  I'm not sure if it is good or bad, past it's prime or just an okay bottle I can feel comfortable drinking for no particular occasion.I have attached a picture, but the label reads as f... • Fox asked me the other day if I was going to start a thread on this years growing season. I've been real busy with other things and haven't had much time to focus on the specifics of the 2013 season. But, things are getting off to an early start due to unusually warm Spring weather and a mild Winter where the Sierra snowpack is only 17% of norma... Read More
