Castello di Neive on Snooth

  • Castello di Neive Barbaresco 2007

    Snoothrank:

Actually 3.6+ stars. Color, this wine has a nice very classic barbaresco color, very light, pleasant, seductive. On the nose, wild flours, cherries, some black fruits, leather, rich, tar, some earthiness. Midpalate, wild roses and cherries are very vibrant, medium bodied, covers all your palate, some sweet tobacco coming through. It shows a lot ... Read More

nice watermelon, cherry, earth, and suggestion of herb note, bright, red fruited, open, nice ripeness without sweetness, good balance, a touch of orange peel in the mouth, very fruity but not vulgar, refreshing finish, perhaps a bit smaller scaled and slightly savory but I like this a lot Read More

  • I just can't help but feel like both WA and WS are rating wines higher then they have in the past. These thoughts are coming from my true love in wine, Barolo. I remember reading reviews on wines from 1996, 1998, 1999, 2001 (all great vintages) and for some of the best producers in that region I would see scores of 90 - 94 for some of the best... Read More

  • Castello di Neive Barbaresco Santo Stefano 1999

    Snoothrank:

Very sweetly fruited on the nose with lots of pipe tobacco and sweet cherry fruit cut by nuanced mineral and spice tones. The palate is also full of sweet fruit with abundant tannins that are round and polished adding a very fresh feel to this youthful wine. Nicely balanced for future development. 91pts Read More
