Castello di Bossi on Snooth

  • Castello di Bossi Chianti Classico 2011

    Snoothrank:

Not particularly dark, garnet color. Musty, woody nose. Initial hit of candied fruits is a bit disappointing. Medium bodied. Very light on the acid makes this a pretty flabby wine. Read More

  • Castello di Bossi Chianti Classico 2010

    Snoothrank:

Various red fruit aromas along with some geranium hints. On the tongue there is a lot of that red fruitred raspberry, a touch of cherry. Not as much acid as I would normally expect from a Chianti. Very tame on the tannin. Suggestion of mint on the aftertaste. A reasonably priced everyday drinker. Read More

  • And the research continues...opened a bottle of 2006 chianti classico riserva - ... ... riserva - Berardo from Castello di Bossi. At just short of 65 bucks, this one was a bit of a splurge. (Snooth says its average price is sub 35 bucks! This gap really made me want to drink more wine.)It's a surprisingly huge and complex chianti, but still ca... Read More

  • Castello di Bossi Chianti Classico Riserva Berardo 2006

    Snoothrank:

This is a big and complex chianti, not at all like the simpler chianti and sangiovese that I'm more accustomed to. First whiff announces this wine is definitely old world and surprisingly complex. Blackberry and stewed fruit notes are almost secondary to notes of leather, cedar, and vanilla. On the palate this wine is, once again, a surprise: it... Read More
