Carter’s Vineyards is run by a small team of people, headed by Ben Bunting, who share an enthusiasm for the vineyard and are committed to producing wines of the highest standard. At Carter’s Vineyards we offer a highly personalised service to our customers and visitors and are proud of the reputation we have built up. Carter’s Vineyards was originally established by Mary Mudd and are now owned by Bunting & Sons. Mary’s connection with the vineyard continues working alongside Ben and the team making wine. Bunting & Sons is one of Colchester’s oldest businesses, established in 1820. The firm is a family business which bridges seven generations of the Bunting family. • It's interesting that a few new topics have popped up recently (Experiencing Cabernet Franc for one) and that my wife Sandra just today handed me an article by Dave McIntyre she cut out of a Washington Post newspaper dated 25 March 2015.  I'm starting this new topic based on this article "The wine cost four digits.  And the taste?" regarding the... • I've been anxious to try some Windy Oaks NG I'm noticing a lot of people drinking it on Delectable and raving. One of these days!I've been busy the past few weeks helping out at the winery during harvest either on the production side or doing private tastings for Ancillary, Myriad and Carter. It afforded my the opportunity to share in some reall... Read More

  • I am loving how we are getting to know some of our favorite wine writers in this series of profiles. So far we’ve “met” Ben Carter and Clifford Brown and it’s really been very interesting learning more about these folks. We “know” them from their wine recommendations, social media posts and from their participation in our online events but we re... Read More

  • I was wondering what sort of new topic I could start that would pair nicely with my previous posting 'Weekday Wines'; well here it is - Weekend Wines.  Sometimes I just have to stop and take a minute to pat myself on the back for my quick wit but alas, this isn't one of those times.  Anyway, why not talk about wines we enjoy on weekends?  These ... • Hello,My name is Kim and I just happened across this site tonight and was quite impressed with it.  To be as brief as possible, I love wine and would love to learn as much as possible about it, particularly so that I can better contribute to my Facebook page I just started called "For The Love Of Wine."  I impulsively decided to start it last ni... • In my daily travels I pass through the Napa Valley every Monday. A few weeks ago I asked Mike Smith a question about yeast for Sauv Blanc and he invited me to stop by and check out some of his new vintage before it went into bottle shock. Today was the day so I stopped by his cellar at Envy Wines in Calistoga. One of the more personable, down to... Read More

  • A couple of news items I was pondering today.First, Robert Parker came out with his ratings for the 2009 Bordeaux vintage. Ever the masochist, I decided to go look at some prices in the marketplace after the ratings were released. Some samplings:2009 Chatau Latour                        100 points                  $21,500 a case2009 Chateau Marg... Read More

  • I doubt many people successfully filled out their March Madness brackets to predict Butler and the University of Connecticut appearing in the final game. Similarly, if you were to fill out a bracket of wine from around the world, I doubt very many people would have a Virginia Cabernet Franc winning the whole thing. Yet that is just what happened...
