Inky dark in the glass--pretty much opaque. Smoky, oaky nose. Very nice on the tip of the tongue--slight hints of berry fruit, but also quite mellow. Initial sensation is very refreshing for a cab. Now I'm getting a bit of a cherry thing. Still lots of tannin on the back of the palate. Finish reprises the cherry sensation briefly, but then... Read More

Garnet color, slightly murky in the glass. Sprighly initial nose, followed by woody, viney sensations. Medium bodied on the palate fairly smooth. Diminished tannins. Some oak. Opens up after 20-30 minutes of air. Minty, cherry flavors with oak. This wine may be past its peak. US$41.99 in 2002. Read More

An awesome nose with deep cassis fruit touched with roasted green chile, tobacco, oak and a still whiff of vanilla. Big and powerful in the mouth with small, dark berried fruit and layers of spice tones that carry a bit of heat with them, giving them a bit of a peppery edge. This remains a big wine and, in some ways, recalls 1986 Bordeaux. 91pts Read More
