Welcome to Carlisle Winery & Vineyards! We are a small Sonoma County winery specializing in the production of old-vine, vineyard designated zinfandels and red Rhone varieties (syrah, grenache, mourvèdre, and petite sirah). While we like our wines to be bold, rich, and intensely flavored, each reflecting a sense of place, its origins in the vineyard, we also strive to create wines of balance, complexity, and perhaps most importantly, pleasure. – Description from iskicm

  • I'm hosting a BBQ dinner party and one of courses is smoked brisket with a sweet, tangy, pretty spicey BBQ sauce.  Wanting to explore outside of the Riesling realm, and I already have beer covered in another course, I find suggestions of fruity Shiraz and Zinfandel.  Thoughts, recommendations ? •  Wow, we had a great time last night. Hopefully Foxall will have a chance to put his spin on things. I didn't take any notes, just 2 pictures but I lined up some of the dead soldiers this morning. 15 people, over 30 different wines and not a single dud except for a sweet/syrupy/candied 2001 Rosenblum Monte Rosso Zinfandel. But enough for the bad... Read More

  • Emark-  I just had a wine from the winery you're talking about.  It was the syrah, and I got it a a SF bay area wine shop when I asked about "cool weather" syrahs.  It was the Bells Echo Anderson Valley (or Mendocino).  It was a "maybe' recommendation from my wine guy when I described the syrahs I love (Carlisle, Balletto).  It was ok for me... ... • Zinfandel, it’s no secret that I’ve carried on a long and intimate relationship with you. There is so much you have to offer. Sometimes you're a bit rough and tumble, edgy, even dangerous, while other times you’re coy or playful. But you’re always there for me, with joyous fruit, classic bramble notes and structure, allowing for early consumptio... Read More

  • Carlisle Zinfandel du Pratt Vineyard Mendocino County 2011

    Snoothrank:

Tight with an early note of exotic grapefruit/passion fruit, accenting the red and blue fruit of the nose. This is medium light bodied and finely balanced, with a lovely texture that is almost supple but still shows good tension in the mouth. Red currant and subtle frutti del bosco flavors shine on the palate, with a nice streak of vanilla with ... Read More
