Welcome to Carlisle Winery & Vineyards! We are a small Sonoma County winery specializing in the production of old-vine, vineyard designated zinfandels and red Rhone varieties (syrah, grenache, mourvèdre, and petite sirah). While we like our wines to be bold, rich, and intensely flavored, each reflecting a sense of place, its origins in the vineyard, we also strive to create wines of balance, complexity, and perhaps most importantly, pleasure. – Description from iskicm

Carlisle Winery on Snooth

  • Zinfandel, it’s no secret that I’ve carried on a long and intimate relationship with you. There is so much you have to offer. Sometimes you're a bit rough and tumble, edgy, even dangerous, while other times you’re coy or playful. But you’re always there for me, with joyous fruit, classic bramble notes and structure, allowing for early consumptio... Read More

  • Carlisle Zinfandel Sonoma County 2011

    Snoothrank:

Fresh berries and creamy vanilla make for an attractive if simple nose. This pops on entry, with bright tart strawberry that shows fine focus and picks up a touch of wild raspberry and subtle spice on the mid-palate. While showing a certain sense of delicacy and a lovely texture, this is a touch simple. 89 points Read More

  • Carlisle Zinfandel du Pratt Vineyard Mendocino County 2011

    Snoothrank:

Tight with an early note of exotic grapefruit/passion fruit, accenting the red and blue fruit of the nose. This is medium light bodied and finely balanced, with a lovely texture that is almost supple but still shows good tension in the mouth. Red currant and subtle frutti del bosco flavors shine on the palate, with a nice streak of vanilla with ... Read More

  • The Zinner party was last night, but preparations began a week or two ago when I realized I had accumulated some Zins that needed consuming.  I had been lured by a cellar sale on BPWine that featured a ton of Turley wines from different vineyards at really attractive prices.  By the time I pulled the trigger, the best values appeared to be a 200... • Being a cab lover I am hesitant to stray from what I like. On a recent occasion I had the opportunity to try a Zinfandel and to my amazement, it had some of the same attributes of the cabernets I love so well. I perused Snooth and stopped on a particular zin from Bogle vineyards. Gregory Dal Piaz gave it a nice rating and being a member of Snoot... Read More

  • Unlike with my pick for Wine of the Year, which is a wine that has moved me and ... chosen Mike Officer’s Carlisle Winery & Vineyards as Snooth’s Winery of the Year. • Carlisle Winery & Vineyards Santa Lucia Highlands Rosella S Vineyard Syrah 2007

    Snoothrank:

This is very subtly layered on the nose with detailed aromas of flowers, green peppercorn, blueberry and boysenberry fruit, a dash of vanilla and raw beef. Smooth and silky on entry, there's a lot of dry extract here adding power but this remains lively on the palate with a base of firm tannins imparting an earthy aspect to fruit flavors. Still...
