Welcome to Carlisle Winery & Vineyards! We are a small Sonoma County winery specializing in the production of old-vine, vineyard designated zinfandels and red Rhone varieties (syrah, grenache, mourvèdre, and petite sirah). While we like our wines to be bold, rich, and intensely flavored, each reflecting a sense of place, its origins in the vineyard, we also strive to create wines of balance, complexity, and perhaps most importantly, pleasure. – Description from iskicm

  • Carlisle Sonoma Valley Compagni Portis 2014

    Snoothrank:

Pale yellow color. Fruity, flowery nosemint, orange blossoms. Apricot and tangerine on the tip of the tongue. Some Gewurz spicethe blend really settles that down. Some mineral hints, mid-palate. Very nice acid refreshment. Read More

  • On and off with differing frequency mention is made on these boards of garnacha as a choice for certain palates, and in certain contexts. Most of the mention here is pretty generic, and doesn't get down to any level of detail.Would like to suggest we take up the subject of wines from this grape with better focus. Where is good, who makes the goo... Read More

  • v v, I've had a few Alcicante Bouschet varietal bottlings.  The last ohe was a relatively low-dollar example from Coppola.  The first ever Alicante Bouschet varietal bottling that I ever had, in fact, the first time I ever heard of the grape, was in 1980-something when Mrs. EMark and I were on a Northern California road trip, and we dropped in a... • Misery loves company.  But it was fitting to go from Dino to the pan-Ital wines of Amador County.  (I've got a theory about how "Italian Americans" came to be viewed as folks you want to socialize with instead of suspicious foreigners with individual regional identities, and Dino fits into it.)OT, the Turley room was still showing on the map as ...
