Welcome to Carlisle Winery & Vineyards! We are a small Sonoma County winery specializing in the production of old-vine, vineyard designated zinfandels and red Rhone varieties (syrah, grenache, mourvèdre, and petite sirah). While we like our wines to be bold, rich, and intensely flavored, each reflecting a sense of place, its origins in the vineyard, we also strive to create wines of balance, complexity, and perhaps most importantly, pleasure. – Description from iskicm

  • Carlisle Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley 2007

This is particularly intense aromatically with sweet brambly fruit and plenty of oak derived notes that recall chocolate chip cookies, gingerbread, baking spices, and chocolate. In the mouth this is very smooth with lots of alcohol that appears to blow off in the glass. The fruit is dark, rich and brambly with a nice sweet edge from the alcohol ... Read More

  • Carlisle Syrah Papa's Block 2006

Deep, jammy, vanilla, smoky, peppery jerky, spicy boysenberry fruit, really white peppery and dried meaty with a hint of milk chocolate. Packed with fruit, fairly seamless in the mouth with a wonderful intensity and purity to the dark berry fruit tones. The tannins and acid are there but its frankly hard to judge either since they are so well i... Read More

  • Carlisle Syrah Papa's Block 2007

The best word I can come up with this is "prodigious." It's a big, burly syrah with plenty of heft and alcohol. Lots of deep, rich, dark fruits. Enjoyed it, but also looking forward to what it will have to offer in the coming years. Read More
