Welcome to Carlisle Winery & Vineyards! We are a small Sonoma County winery specializing in the production of old-vine, vineyard designated zinfandels and red Rhone varieties (syrah, grenache, mourvèdre, and petite sirah). While we like our wines to be bold, rich, and intensely flavored, each reflecting a sense of place, its origins in the vineyard, we also strive to create wines of balance, complexity, and perhaps most importantly, pleasure. – Description from iskicm

  • As you may know, Zinfandel is my favorite American grape variety. The wines produced tend to span a wide range of fascinating styles and can reveal fabulous terroir. I belong to a grand total of three winery lists, two of which are primarily for Zinfandel. From two of the the greatest producers of not only Zinfandel, but the great field blends t... Read More

  • Last week I began my summer time look at Zinfandel by focusing on Mendocino and lake counties, two regions that have limited presence in the Zin lovers mind. • Emark, let me know when and we'll go visit some folks.  But don't forget the Mauritson Sauv Blanc.  When I asked some of my favorite winemakers from all over the spectrum what they drank when they weren't drinking their own, two wines came up:  Mike Officer's Carlisle Zins, and that SB.  Not the cheapest SB at $22 ish but also not the most expen...
