Bruno Giacosa

The story starts in a simple way, with the native varietals of the Langa and Roero regions and vineyards cultivated with loving care. It continues with pure, meticulous vinification, with ageing in grand oak barrels and with unforgettable Reserves. But it also includes, naturally enough, the choice not to bottle those mediocre vintages deemed unworthy of vinification. Bruno’s art encompasses passion and clear judgement but, above all, the utmost respect for his product, its admirers and for the beautiful countryside where he and his family were born and raised. The Azienda Agricola Falletto Winery comprises twenty hectares of vineyards within the Serralunga d'Alba, La Morra and Barbaresco areas. The vine growing and wine making processes are followed through with care from beginning to end, culminating with vinification and ageing within our cellars in Neive. Some of our wine is produced with grapes grown by those farmers who have always worked our winery and whose prestigious vineyards truly Read more »

  • Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Santo Stefano di Neive 1986

This offers up a lovely and mature bouquet of spicy Nebbiolo fruit with a top not of dried porcini and an ever so slight toffeed edge with grace notes of mint and toasted pecan all over a slightly smoky, heather tinged core of spiced red plum and berry fruits In the mouth the bottle sweetness here is wonderful with the core of strawberry fruit t... • Bruno Giacosa Arneis Roero 2006

A perfect pairing for the Bagna Cauda. Its bright fruit and acidity cut through the Bagna Cuada and refreshed the palate for the vegetables that accompanied the dish. While the scents of flowers, peaches, and almonds were a welcome addition to this light, refreshing course. I have only a few of these left and Ive heard that Arneis is supposed to... Read More

  • Bruno Giacosa Dolcetto d'Alba 2006

was in good form this night. I recall it showing a lot of restraint when I first received my cases. That has blown over to reveal a smoother and slightly sweeter Dolcetto than in the past vintages of this bottle. It reminded me more of a Dolcetto Di Dogliani, which is hardly a bad thing. This bottle showed less structure but much more pleasing b... Read More

  • One used to be able to count on Barolo, that exceptionally fine Piedmontese red wine made from Nebbiolo, being exceptional maybe 3 times a decade. In the past 10 years however we have been blessed with an string of vintages that has been unparelled in history. 1998 had the distinct misfortune of falling after the over acclaimed 1997s and the equ... • Bruno Giacosa Barolo Le Rocche del Falletto di Serralunga d'Alba 1998

Sweet smelling at first though showing a bit more obvious alcohol than most of the wines tonight this has a nice core or tarry spicy fruit that is powerful with edges of pipe tobacco and a touch of smoky peat. Again a touch hot in the mouth with red currant fruits, a touch of red apple skins, a bit of a roasted meatiness though with great depth ... Read More

Usual light straw colour in the glass, medium sparkling action, bubbly but not insane. Great on the nose, yeast and toast qualities with some nice floral and fruity notes, apples and lemons. Nice, rounded and large mouth feel for a sparkling wine with quite a sweet lemon like mid palate and a vibrant, nice length finish. Great balance, refreshin... Read More
