Boitano Family Wines is operated by four generations of family. Our mission is to provide elegant affordable wine from quality grapes grown in the Sierra foothills. The Boitano family started growing Sangiovese grapes in their Mokelumne Hill vineyard in 1999. The six generation mother lode family comes together annually to prune in early spring and harvest in fall. You can meet many of us by visiting our tasting room in Lockeford every Saturday & Sunday and most holidays. We pride ourselves in the quality and unique flavors of our sensational wines; Zinfandel, Barbera, Super Tuscan Blend, Sangiovese just to name a few. Only at Boitano Family Wines can you taste Santano Sangiovese (the people’s choose) grown in our Mokelumne Hill vineyard. – Description from Alejandro

Port style but not heavy syrup. Heady. Chewy. At this tasting the price was $28. I might go back and get this when I finish my other ports. (Can't hang on to ports very long, they turn to Sherry) Read More

This was good, but for me, not $22 good. My other half liked it. High alcohol on the nose, nearly took my breath away. Read More

  • Boitano Family Wines Sangiovese Calaveras County Santano Boitano Family Vineyard 2009

Touts a Beaujolias style and one taste confirms it. One of the better sangiovese wines I've tasted (But, I'm partial to the beauj). Blackberries on the palate and the nose. Scrumptious. Read More

  • Visiting this winery was great. They recently held an Oktoberfest fun day with delicious sausage, salads and, of course, wine tasting. Nice flight of reds including port. Fun crowd, friendly vinters, and futures available for reserve. Quite enjoyable.
