Although the Bogle family has been farming since the mid-1800's, it was not until 1968 that the father and son team of Warren and Chris Bogle planted their first 20 acres of wine grapes in Clarksburg, California. In this small farming community nestled along the Sacramento River, the Bogle family's years of hard work have developed into an impressive grape growing operation, as well as a nationally acclaimed winery. Today Bogle Vineyards farms over 1,200 acres of wine grapes in the Delta region. While the winery was established ten years after the first grapes were planted, its success has grown tremendously along with the vineyards. The success of Bogle over the years is firmly rooted in one thing: the day-to-day involvement of the Bogle family in the hands-on effort to produce and promote quality wines. Patty Bogle became involved in the early years of the vineyards with her late husband Chris, when they planted fields together in the early 1970's. Patty took over operation of the winery Read more »

  • Bogle Merlot California 2012

    Snoothrank:

$8.99 at Trader Joe's. 2012 vintage. A little higher acid on first opening, but aerates into a very fruity, bold wine. Overripe cherries, strawberries, some blackberry. For those looking for a full-bodied, deep, complex wine, the 2012 Bogle Cab hit a better note, but I would definitely buy this wine again. Would serve to guests. Read More

  • Bogle Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

    Snoothrank:

Bold, full-bodied, low tannins, sweet smelling, tastes of dark fruit - dark cherry, ripe plums, ripe blackberries - very juicy and delicious. Hints of dark chocolate, paired perfectly with 70% cacao. For the price, this is a fantastic wine - better than Cabs I've had from Napa that cost 4X as much. Flavors evolve as you let it aerate. Found this... Read More

  • I prefer mountain fruit for my Merlot but unfortunately  that can't be found for $15 or less.  For inexpensive Merlot I suggest you try Steele Winery of Lake County, Bogle Merlot or Happy Canyon Vineyards Merlot from Santa Ynez Valley   Read More

  • I need some help finding a under $15 Merlot.  For years my go-to Merlot was Clos du Bois North Coast because it had soft tannins, lush red/dark fruit and a silky mouthfeel/finish.  The '12 and '13 vintages had a spice component that I didn't like so Merlot, hasn't been in my lineup.  I recently tried an Old World Merlot, Clos de la Moriette, whi... • Bogle Sauvignon Blanc California 2013

    Snoothrank:

Lightly aromatic with small grapefruit aromas and a nice streak of lime on the nose. followed by late arriving grassy notes. pretty crisp on entry if just a bit thick on the plate. This displays attractive white peach and citrus flavors in a medium full style with plenty of refreshing acidity. Theres not much follow through on the modest finish ... Read More

  • Bogle Essential Red 2011

    Snoothrank:

An unspecified blend of Zinfandel, Syrah, cabernet Sauvignon, and Petite Sirah Noticeably oaky on the nose with some notes of smoky bacon and lots of cedary spice over lightly pepper berry fruit. Noticeably sweet on entry, though not terribly heavy due to the relatively high acids here. Theres a fairly strong mocha note early on the palate that ... Read More

  • Bogle Chardonnay California 2012

    Snoothrank:

I agree with other reviewers, this is a moderately oaked classic California chardonnay with apple, pear, apple pie, and fruit salad flavors that linger in a nice finish for a chard at this price. About 86 points, 3.5 glasses considering the price (about 10 bucks) I would recommend it. Read More
