Although the Bogle family has been farming since the mid-1800's, it was not until 1968 that the father and son team of Warren and Chris Bogle planted their first 20 acres of wine grapes in Clarksburg, California. In this small farming community nestled along the Sacramento River, the Bogle family's years of hard work have developed into an impressive grape growing operation, as well as a nationally acclaimed winery. Today Bogle Vineyards farms over 1,200 acres of wine grapes in the Delta region. While the winery was established ten years after the first grapes were planted, its success has grown tremendously along with the vineyards. The success of Bogle over the years is firmly rooted in one thing: the day-to-day involvement of the Bogle family in the hands-on effort to produce and promote quality wines. Patty Bogle became involved in the early years of the vineyards with her late husband Chris, when they planted fields together in the early 1970's. Patty took over operation of the winery Read more »

  • Bogle Merlot California 2012

    Snoothrank:

2012 vintage Bogle Merlot. Pleasant cherry nose. Overpowering acid on the palate. Seems a bit viney tannins as if they included the hard press into the wine.I much prefer the smoothness of a Maggio Family Vineyards Lodi Merlot. Read More

  • As you may know I love Zinfandel. I think it’s the greatest domestic wine produced in this country, both for its historic significance as well as for the exquisite expressions of variety and terrori that the great examples are capable of. As these great examples continue to become more expensive, many are above $40 now, certainly remaining good ... • Bogle Essential Red 2011

    Snoothrank:

Smokey and weedy with a coffee/over-steeped tea quality on the nose. Easy drinking and attractively bright in the mouth with some black plum skin and candied raspberry flavors immersed in cocoa and mocha flavors on the palate. Theres a whisper of tannin here that adds some textural contrast to the bright mouthfeel. In the end though this feels a... Read More

  • Bogle Merlot California 2012

    Snoothrank:

$8.99 at Trader Joe's. 2012 vintage. A little higher acid on first opening, but aerates into a very fruity, bold wine. Overripe cherries, strawberries, some blackberry. For those looking for a full-bodied, deep, complex wine, the 2012 Bogle Cab hit a better note, but I would definitely buy this wine again. Would serve to guests. Read More

  • Bogle Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

    Snoothrank:

Bold, full-bodied, low tannins, sweet smelling, tastes of dark fruit - dark cherry, ripe plums, ripe blackberries - very juicy and delicious. Hints of dark chocolate, paired perfectly with 70% cacao. For the price, this is a fantastic wine - better than Cabs I've had from Napa that cost 4X as much. Flavors evolve as you let it aerate. Found this... Read More
