The Eguren family, generation after generation since 1870, have been dedicated to grape growing and to the elaboration and ageing of great wines in one of the most prestigious estates in Rioja. Sierra Cantabria has made its wine under this brand since 1957, from its 90 hectares of vineyards. It has an average age of 35 years and is situated in a unique location, between the River Ebro and the Sierra Cantabria mountain range. This mountain range has given the name to the winery and protects the vineyard from the cold winds from the north, creating a specific microclimate for the cultivation of the vines and therefore providing a differentiated personality to our wines. – Description from iskicm

  • Bodegas Sierra Cantabria Tempranillo Rioja 2007

    Snoothrank:

a fruity, easy to drink wine with complex aromas of red cherries, hints of menthol and smoke, flairs of wet earth, pleasant firm acidity and a sustained body, it benefits from decanting. Leather hints -predominantly in the palate- and very few on the nose. Medium to Long Finish. A masculine offering from Sierra, should be enjoyed now till 6+ years. Read More

  • Bodegas Sierra Cantabria Tempranillo Rioja 2007

    Snoothrank:

Very fruity, aromatic nose, truly surprising taste with strong accents of plum, cherry, and elderberry. I believe that it is a wine to be savored and enjoyed now. When I served this wine at a local tasting some weeks ago, I found that it really needed to breathe about 20-30 minutes after opening, and swirled vigorously in the glass to release it... • Bodegas Sierra Cantabria Rioja 2006

    Snoothrank:

At first I did not like this. Made in an oaky internmational style, almost dried out. I served it with a spicy vegetarian chilli which cut throught he oak and tannin. A little cherry fruit came through behind all the spiciness and tomato. Not bad match, but I don't think I would buy this wine again. Read More

  • Hello everyone, I have a 1994 Monticello Gran Reserve Rioja that I am looking to crack open soon. And since it is one of the older wines if not the oldest I have had to date, I was curious as to what everyone would consider the optimal air time in the decanter would be. Thank you. btw, I couldn't find this wine in the search engine, but here ... Read More
