Bodegas Ramón Bilbao was established in 1924 by wine trader Ramón Bilbao Murga in the Rioja region of Spain. The wines were produced in the traditional aged style of the region and continued to be successful throughout generations of the Bilbao family. In 1972, the winery was sold to corporate owners, but ones who are committed to preserving the integrity and traditions of the wines. Today, the wines are still produced using modern technology with respect for classic styles and characteristics.

Nice dark purple color. Aromas range from resiny, to pruny, to something like anise. Very pleasing initial palate. There is some fruit here--blackberry as much as anything--but it doesn't take over.
