In 1942, José María Tetas set up the current winery in Vilafranca del Penedès, just four kilometres from the original estate. Having inherited the family methods and traditions, it has gradually grown until it has now become one of the most highly reputed wineries in the region and the whole country. At the present time, PINORD’s production facilities have an output capacity of over five million bottles per year. Nevertheless, traditional family standards are maintained and care is taken to avoid over production, something that generally results in a loss of quality. Two enologists and a laboratory with the most up-to-date analytical and quality control equipment ensure that the long-standing family tradition continues to be compatible with today’s most demanding quality, production and health controls demonstrating that traditional methods are not necessarily at variance with the implementation of the most rigorous standards. The early wines soon began to win a name and prestige for themselves Read more »

  • Pinord Diorama Merlot 2009

    Snoothrank:

Another excellent wine from Pinord. I really liked the Diorama Syrah so was excited to try the Merlot. I was not disappointed. A velvety, caramel nose. On the palate very smooth with a nice spicy finish. It left a nice pucker effect under the lower lip with berry and plum fruit coming through. Read More

  • Bodegas Pinord Priorat 7 2007

    Snoothrank:

The best wine I've had all year. A big, bold, earthy, oakey Priorat. A sensation on the nose with earth and chocolate notes coming through. Very dense fruit on the palate with a wonderful balance of minerality and oak with a long, long, lingering finish. Get it. Read More

  • Pinord Penedes Diorama Syrah 2009

    Snoothrank:

Wonderful find. A very well made wine. Nice heavy nose and quite heavy on the palate. More reminiscent of an Aussie Shiraz with nice jammy fruit and spice. Read More

  • Pinord Tempranillo Penedès Clos de Torribas Crianza 1998

    Snoothrank:

Enjoyed this 1998 vintage on 3 March, 2012. Been in my cellar for 10-11 years. I think I paid 8 or 9 EUR for the bottle back in 2001-2002. Back then I stored one extra bottle as I just had a sense that this cheap and tight, tannin-intensive crianza could potentially develop well.Well, it surely did. Vau! It is very well balanced, but still with ... Read More

  • Bodegas Pinord Moscatel Penedes 2006

    Snoothrank:

Both the golden yellow color and the notes of lemon curd and buttery croissant on the nose entice you to taste, but once the juice hits your palate, it falls as flat as the current stock market. The grape-cluster shaped bottle is intriguing but does little to improve the quality of the wine. More of a conversation piece than a fine wine. Sip wit... Read More

  • Pi del Nord 2002

    Snoothrank:

A brickish red with a watery rim. Smells of dark, hidden forests with smokey black fruits and lashes of oak. On the palette, juicy and sumptuous blackberries and black cherries. The mouth is softly gripped by the ripe tannins with a smokey finish. Perfect with a proper british shepards pie. Read More
