Bodegas Olarra is located on the outskirts of Logroño, right in the heart of the Denominación de Origen Calificada Rioja and within the prestigious Rioja Alta sub-district. Since it was founded in 1973, Olarra has been characterised by the beauty and complexity of its facilities, known as the Cathedral of Rioja, with its unique 'Y' shaped ground plan, as well as its 111 hexagonal "egg box" domes. This bodega has been able to combine the most modern winemaking techniques with the traditional vinification and ageing processes of Rioja, creating wines which have been conceived according to strict quality standards. – Description from iskicm

  • Bodegas Olarra Tempranillo Blend Rioja Cerro Anon Reserva 2005

    Snoothrank:

This wine has a lovely bright ruby color, with limited opacity. The nose is quite nice, with notes of red currant, anise, tar and a good bit of minerality swirling around. The taste is a sophisticated blend of ripe red fruit, but without the sweetness you might expect, the rich dark fruit is wonderfully balanced with acidity that just gives th... Read More

    Snoothrank:

91 Points: Wine Advocate # 195 Jun 2011The 2005 Cerro Anon Reserva is a similar blend to the Crianza but aged in barrel for 20 months. Sandalwood, Asian spices, incense, mineral, and espresso notes inform the nose of this savory, mouth-filling, dense, succulent offering. Give it 2-3 years of additional cellaring to fully blossom and drink it thr... Read More

  • With so much new release Rioja tasted recently, and my ever increasing exhortations to buy these wines based on the fact that they represent great value, I thought it only fair to give you a glimpse into my recent dinner party experience with the very highly thought of 1970 vintage. These are not the same wines that Rioja produces today, many thi...
