Bodegas Etchart was founded in the year 1850, in La Florida, Cafayate, province of Salta, Argentina, a small country house that still today holds the same name where the first Torrontes vines were planted, a specific variety introduced by the inhabitants of the province of Misiones at the end of the 16th century. Located at the base of Los Andes Mountain, at more than 1,750 meters above sea level, it is one of the highest vinicultures of the world. In 1938, Arnaldo Etchart acquired the country house, which was then only 65 ha. and he brought new direction to the winery, thus giving rise to the wine sector in the region. – Description from iskicm
