Bodegas Castaño

From that moment onward, Ramon did not stop making improvements. It was in the early 80s when he bought the first bottling plant. During the 90's, participation in trade fairs, tastings, and market research trips began with the full incorporation of his three sons: Ramon, Juan Pedro, and Daniel. It was during this period that the recognition and appreciation, both national and internationally, arrived.

The courage and determination of a man deeply rooted began to bear fruit. The development of Bodegas Castano is unstoppable, and the improvements are never-ending. The most recent of these was completed in 2002 with the construction of state-of-the-art storage premises: completely air-conditioned, with a new cooling chamber.

  • Bodegas Castaño White Blend Yecla Macabeo/chardonnay 2008

    Snoothrank:

On the scrounge during a hectically short lunch break, I came upon a perennial favorite at an unusual bargain-basement price. This above average Monastrell has an inviting deep, black robe redolent of blueberry, is well balanced on entry with some character poking through and yes - even structure for a couple more years in the cellar! Viva Espa... Read More

  • As many of you know, vellovino has a blog that combines cycling and wine.  And I happen to think the best way to see any wine country is on a bike--whether that takes one day or many.  So we're teaming up to cover the wine territory of the Spanish Vuelta, probably the third most important stage race in cycling.  (TdF and Giro d'Italia being the ... • Bodegas Castaño Monastrell Yecla Hécula 2009

    Snoothrank:

Opaque black plum hue, aromas of dark stone fruits, leather and spice, flavor notes of dark berries, dried game and leather, integrated tannins, bright acidity, with a rich mouthfeel that lingers to a moderate finish. Great Value to pair with roast meats and game dishes. Read More

  • Bodegas Castaño Monastrell Yecla Hécula 2009

  • My God man. Their website really blows. OVER-techy, flash gobbledeegook. Wines are great though.
