From that moment onward, Ramon did not stop making improvements. It was in the early 80s when he bought the first bottling plant. During the 90's, participation in trade fairs, tastings, and market research trips began with the full incorporation of his three sons: Ramon, Juan Pedro, and Daniel. It was during this period that the recognition and appreciation, both national and internationally, arrived.
The courage and determination of a man deeply rooted began to bear fruit. The development of Bodegas Castano is unstoppable, and the improvements are never-ending. The most recent of these was completed in 2002 with the construction of state-of-the-art storage premises: completely air-conditioned, with a new cooling chamber.

What wine would you suggest (both red & white) to serve at a grand opening of a Pottery Studio in Chicago. Inexpensive BUT tasty, $8. - $12.I know that's really low, but I'm hoping there are people out there that just LOVE the chase of finding great wines at low prices and I can pick your brains. Thanks! Two days vacu-corked in the fridge and this wine became much smoother and better integrated with incredibly deep rich fruit and a better nose and heavier body. Balance favors the fruit for sure. More obvious chocolate and spice. Rustic, not elegant wine but super tasty and rich without being sweet. I'm guessing the monastrell, to a lesser ex... Read More

Decanted 0 to 30 mins. Rustic, big, and somewhat complex. I think the cab sauv and monastrell and alicante mix in an odd way - a bit more noise than harmony, but not unpleasant. Wine reminds me of a French "Sud" wine only with bigger fruit. Nose of powdery cocoa, earth, and minty herb (or forest floor) with hints of spice and oak. On the at... Read More

According to the tag in the liquor store, this vintage was highly rated. Initially, I disagreed, but after decanting and allowing for sufficient breathing time, this wine opened up nicely. Ruby red in colour with medium intensity. An appealing nose showing blackberry, spice leather and forest floor. Well balanced with soft tannins. The flav... Read More
