Although the history of the city of Borja takes us back to the beginnings of the Paleolithic period, it wasn’t until the 4th century before Christ, in the heart of the Celtiberian period, when thanks to classical and numismatic written sources the name of this village came to light: Bursao. With the passing through Bursao of different civilizations like the Romans, Visigothic Hispania and the Muslims we have inherited architectural remains and above all, the natural inclination of its people towards agriculture and more particularly viniculture. Of equal importance was the implementation of artisanal techniques that today endure as living proof of the cultural richness of the former Bursao today known as Borja. During the I and II centuries, before our time, it used to mint bronze coins, ases and dividers as a symbol of its autonomy. On the obverse of the as we can see a celtiberian rider armed with a lance, riding on the writing of the name of the city in the native alphabet. The emblem adopted Read more »

  • Tres Picos /11 Garnacha 2010

For me this was a very drinkable wine. Rich red color and light on tannins. Had some blackberry and raspberry notes. I didn't pick up the ashy notes others mentioned, but that could be because I was smoking a cigar with the wine. All in all I would drink this wine again. Read More

This Garnacha from Spain is not one of my favorites. Perhaps it needs to be decanted or allowed more time to breathe. For the price, it's ok but would not go out of my way to have it with other than pizza (anything is good with Pizza)I will not be purchasing it any more. One further note, it seemed to young, it had the potential flavors but too ... Read More

  • Garnacha from Spain has emerged as one of today's great values in red wine. Much of the fruit responsible for the proliferation of new bottlings has come from old vineyards that until recently were used to produce bulk wine, or to supply a family’s vinous needs. It is thrilling to have so many old vineyards saved and in producing quality wine th... Read More

  • Borsao Garnacha Campo de Borja 2012

Licorice, violets, and plummy fruit come together on the nose with a touch of strawberry jam adding some detail. Theres plenty of acid here that doesnt feel natural in the mouth. This is tart and then round with jammy strawberry fruit and powdery tannins. Raw and rustic in the mouth, this tastes industrial and harsh. Extracted tannins grab the ... Read More

  • Bodegas Borsao Garnacha Campo de Borja Tres Picos 2003

I totally do not understand how this can go with "lamb and apricot" dishes. I had a glass just now with some cabbage and bacon stew alongside a burger and even those were to sweet for it. Sweetness brings out the peppery astringent tastes to the wine. Not a good pairing at all. Read More

  • Borsao Tres Picos Campo de Borja 2011

Very intense cherry red colour with tones of purple. Presents in the nose a great concentration of aromas of ripe red fruit with floral nuances. In the mouth it is a well structured rich wine that evokes tastes of blackberry, plum and tones of leather and vanilla, with a soft and silky tannin. ~ The Winery ~ Read More
