Bodegas Beronia is a winery in Rioja founded in 1973 by a group from the local gastronomic society. It’s named for the warrior tribe of Celtic origin who dwelled in the land in the 3rd century. The winery is committed to producing Rioja in the classic style, using a blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo for reds and Viura for whites, barrel aged in American oak. They also produce a line of barrel aged single varietal wines, and are among the only producers who make a single variety Mazuelo. They are dedicated to the environment and in 2000 they were awarded with certification for their environmental management system.

  • Bodegas Beronia Tempranillo Blend Rioja Reserva 2005

A rather classic red fruit and smoky, vanilla toast Rioja nose though on the palate this is elegant and surprisingly bright and nervous. There's still some assertive oak, here but is rather deftly done and offers a nice base for the ripe fruit character on the mid-palate which then transitions back on the juicy finish to a more toasty oak note. ... Nicely structured wine with a significant blast of sweet fruit tempered by smoke, oak, and licorice. Enjoyable now, but a few more years of age will fully integrate the flavors. Read More

  • Hi there,                 My 30th is coming up in March. One of the things I've wanted to do since I was about 6 is to drink a red wine from the year I was born (81).  I don't have the type of money to blow 1000's of dollars on a wine or buy a case to ensure the wine is about to peak (probably a bit late to do that anyway).  Does anyone have any...
