In the late 1930s Irv Bliss was drawn to Mendocino County by its beautiful rolling hills and unspoiled land. He found himself on Old Toll Road looking out over a picturesque ranch that he dreamed of acquiring. Years later, Irv heard of a Mendocino property for sale. He gathered all his savings and headed to the auction to bid on the property sight unseen. As fate would have it, the land Irv purchased was the original 450 acre ranch that captivated him. Sixty years later, we carry Irv’s love for the land through our third generation of family farmers. We celebrate the land Irv passed on to us by showcasing the rich fruit we grow on our property and putting our own Bliss into every bottle of wine we produce. – Description from JelaDragoljevic

  •  Holy Cow.Tonight Chester came over and we had three BC wines. Church and State vineyards Tribella ($19) a LakeBreeze 2012 Meritage and a 2007 Poplar Grove vineyards Legacy.  (OT, this is the one I left you  last July but that was a 2006).  I was so stupid over this that Terri was embarrassed.  Chester was more forgiving.  He said it was in fact... • As you may know I love Zinfandel. I think it’s the greatest domestic wine produced in this country, both for its historic significance as well as for the exquisite expressions of variety and terrori that the great examples are capable of. As these great examples continue to become more expensive, many are above $40 now, certainly remaining good ... • Bliss Zinfandel 2010

    Snoothrank:

Fresh and precise on the nose with a lovely array of boysenberry pie, slightly used wood, sandalwood, and gentle allspice aromas. Cool on entry and a little dull at first, this does turn itself around showing attractive hard candy like flavors of red fruits on the palate that are taut and transparent with lovely nuanced wood spice and earth and ... • I have been reading the notes on Roses with interest for the past couple of weeks.  There are two high value words missing from most of the reviews.  Dry or sweet.  It has been my experience that the variety of grape used to produce a rose has little to do with the sweetness or dryness of a rose, and alcohol content seems to have low impact on t... • Diego, thanks for giving this otherwise anonymous graphic a real place in the world.  OT, nice work.  Probably one of the many vineyards I drove past and wondered where the cows are going to go when all this planting is done.  At least this isn't down in the flats in some former swampland or in a place more suitable for fruit trees like a good p... • Being it is in Carneros it is likely Chard or Pinot. Maybe Chandon or Gloria Ferrer for sparkllng. Vino Farms manages most of the vineyards on that side of the highway short of Ramal. I could find out though. Read More
