Blackwood Wines have used the tiger print as their distinctive logo. This is because of many local sightings of the Nannup Tiger (thylacine). Locals believe the striped, wolf-like marsupial lives in the jarrah forest surrounding Nannup. The tiger print is a reminder that the marsupiall mysteriously appears only to vanish again into thin air, leaving only footprints in the clay to hint that it ever appeared at all. Like the Nannup Tiger, the Blackwood Winery is just waiting to be discovered. Browse around the antiques and works of art before tasting the wine either indoors or out on the verandah which overlooks a scenic lake. – Description from Dragac

  • Blackwood Lane Merlot 2010

Another winner (what's new?) for Blackwood Lane. This Merlot has a nose of red fruit, cherry wood ( such as found in a love chest) which is a marker of Carlos' wines. The palate is more cherry wood and tart red berry, with chocolate in abundance. The finish is long and rich. Better than many Bordeaux "right bank" offerings. 90 points. Read More

On the palate, we receive a melange of strawberry, a touch of white pepper, black tea and white cream. This hybrid new/old world ... Read More

  • Blackwood Lane Vineyards & Winery Alliànce 2007

Westwood Wines in Coquitlam British Columbia Canada recently hosted Mr. Carlos Lee and the bulk of his fine line of products from Blackwood Lane Vineyards in the Fraser Valley. A Merlot-dominant blend of Bordelais cépages, this wine has all the wonderful earthiness, deep red fruit, gritty tannin and New World intensity to remind all but the mos... Read More

  • As we move into the heart of summer, it's worth taking note of what is being searched for on Snooth. As usual, the results include a mix of wines for the season, perennial favorites and those with recent reviews that make them worth the search. That, of course, is a loaded question, but it probably comes a surprise to no one that the 2009 Carlis... Read More
