Benessere” is the Italian word for well being and prosperity. This is the feeling we try to embody at Benessere Winery. We are a small family owned, high end producer of Italian varietals, located in the north end of Napa Valley on the valley floor where the soil is well suited for growing excellent wine. We have expanded our selection of varietals to include Zinfandel, Merlot, Syrah and Muscat di Canelli. We also produce an outstanding blend called Phenomenon. – Description from Alejandro

  • Benessere Pinot Grigio Carneros 2009

This had a strange aroma of cinnamon gum on the nose. Cashew nuts, apricot jam. But I'm wondering if served with the right food - nuts and cheese with quince jelly - if this would grow on me. Read More

  • Benessere Vineyards Napa Valley Rosato 2010

This is really weird at first, with an initial whiff of something that resembles Worcestershire sauce or fish sauce that gains good covering fruit. Its not off-putting or too intense, in fact its really attractive in a deeply savory way, though it is unusual. On entry this is round and moderately big with fine acid and some soft tannins buildi... Read More

  • Benessere Zinfandel Napa Valley Black Glass Vineyard 2007

Smoky and herbal on the nose with note of brushfire and curranty fruit with hints of pineapple, cinnamon and white pepper. A bit on the soft side in the mouth, easy drinking with licorice and cocoa accents up front that segue into a black cherry, black currant mid-palate that shows a touch of firm tannin. Spicy on the finish with good cherry fru... Read More

  • Benessere Zinfandel Bk Collins-Old Vines Napa Valley 2007

Creamy black cherry fruit backed up with slightly medicinal notes greet the nose, all accented with gentle soil tones and hints of briary herbs and vanilla. Nice and tight on entry with good focus and energy across the palate. This delivers finely balanced black cherry fruit across the palate, framed with modest but firm tannins and accented wit... • Zinfandel is an American treasure. There are great old-vine vineyards around the globe that range from Nero d’Avola in Italy to Grenache in Spain and Malbec in Argentina, but only in California can we find the finest examples of Zinfandel. And when the discussion comes around to Zinfandel and experiencing all it has to offer, one is inevitably d... Read More

  • Benessere Muscat Frizzante 2007

Picked up a bottle of this when I was unable to get a bottle of one of my favorite wines, the Benessere Muscat Canelli Scintillare. I still like that one better, but this is a really excellent substitution for champagne. It is a very slightly sparkling muscat, instead of bubbles fizzing in your mouth, it makes it light and airy. It has dominant ... Read More
