Bedrock is an itsy-bitsy winery making wine in a converted chicken coop. Fruit from only the most excellent vineyard sites is hand pitch-forked into the destemmer, fermented in open top redwood and stainless vats using only native yeasts, and are manually basket pressed by winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson into the sexiest oak from the coldest French forests. – Description from Alejandro

  • Bedrock Wine Co. the Bedrock Heritage 2012

My 3rd place wine, the groups 8th Really powerfully scented with jammy fruit, a hint of orange peel, nuanced oaky spice and dark earthy notes on the nose. One is struck by how soft this is in the mouth. It really is low acid and while that is not my thing, this does delivery great earthy, chewy flavors that are savory, mineral and gamy along wit... • Bedrock Wine Co. Sodini Vineyard Zinfandel 2012

My 6th place wine, the groups 7th Dark strawberry fruit greets the nose with darker berry accent notes and plenty of savory, slightly beefy complexity. There really is fabulous purity to the fruit here on the nose. Bright, round and intense in the mouth, theres a fine mineral streak to this on the palate along with plenty of bright, slightly jam... • Bedrock Zinfandel Sonoma Valley 2012

My 7th place wines and the groups tied for 2nd Fresh and spicy on the nose with hints of orange peel and sweet carob but not a lot of fruit and rather simple. Easy drinking in a round, supple style, this is rather full on the palate with plenty of very ripe cherry fruit. Theres nice depth and concentration to the fruit, and some engaging tannin ... • Bedrock Kirschenmann Vineyard 2012

My 2nd place wine and the groups 1st Theres some gentle cocoa and mocha on the nose but this is dominated by sweet raspberry and boysenberry fruit that is very fresh with lightly floral and smoky top notes. Medium light on the palate and with a touch of aggressive tannins early on the palate followed by pure, light and transparent red berry, ras... Read More

  • Bedrock Ode To Lulu Rose 2013

Attractive clear peach/pink color. Fresh, strawberry, nose. Slight strawberry taste continues on the tongue, but then other fruitspeach and, even, lemonarise. Terrific acid makes this a very refreshing summer sip. $19.00 from the winery. Read More

  • Bedrock Grenache Gibson Ranch Mendocino 2013

Not the clearest color I've ever seen in a wine. It's just a tad murky with a tinge of yellow. Very "fresh" noseslight berry and slight citrus hints. Delightful on entry to the mouthquite light, some berry/cherry flavors. A somewhat unusual mouth-feel that I think might be from a lack of acid. There is little or no tartness in this one. Aft... Oaky nose with berry and citrus fruit hints. Up front berry fruit--cherry and blackberry--yields to very civilized tannins and refreshing acidity. This field blend has contributions from 19 grape varieties, and I defy anyone to suggest that any one dominates. Very easy drinking wine. I just popped-n-poured. I suspect that with some air this w... Read More

  • Perhaps we could use a place to share recent purchases...Here are some '12 Burlotto Langhe Nebbiolo, which came highly recommended from a trusted friend who just got back from a month in Italy. I'm not seeing many available in the States quite yet, but was happy to find these locally. Read More

  • Abrente Napa Valley Albarino 2013

Fairly fruity and floral nose--melon and fruit blossoms--makes me think a bit of Viognier or something like that. Not terribly flavorful entry. It's not until the wine moves to mid-palate/tongue that I first detect some mineral flavors and then various fruit flavors--melon, peach--and then some serious tartness. A very light wine that is very... Read More

  • Bedrock Wine Co. Evangelho Vineyard Heritage 2012

Whoa, very fruity on introduction to the tongue--lots of raspberry, some acidic tropical hints like, maybe, papaya, maybe even some citrus. Noticeable sweetness around the edge of the tongue. Not a particularly "jammy" Zin. Medium bodied, easy to drink by itself, but it might be a challenge for some food pairings. US$30.00 from the winery. Read More
