BASTIANICH - Colli Orientali del Friuli The region of Friuli Venezia Giulia lies in the far northeast corner of Italy, its central city, Udine, is about 90 minutes northeast of Venice, The Bastianich winery was founded in 1997 and consists of 28 hectares (70 acres). The vineyards are all located in the Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC and are in two distinct zones. The original vineyard in Buttrio/Premariacco lies on the southernmost hills in the DOC. It is influenced by the warmth of the sea and is famous for its ability to produce wines of great power. The second property, in the hills of Cividale del Friuli, is influenced by the bora, the north wind, which, with cooler nights, produces wines of greater aromatic intensity.
