Basket Case Wines was started by Chenin and Sean Carlton in 2006. We've been doing the wine thing for a long time, and we've always felt the wine industry has done a lousy job of conveying a very simple truth: it's not about exclusivity, arrogance, elitism, or pomposity. Wine is about having fun. Though we can't make it any more simple than that, we can sure make it easier for you to enjoy than has previously been the case. We don't care what you drink, how you drink it, or whether or not you can put words to what you are tasting. DRINK WHAT YOU LIKE! That's all there is to it. – Description from mriskic

  • Today is Mrs. EMark's b'day.  She turned down several ideas for dining out, and this morning she said, "I know what I want to do for my birthday.  Let's go to Costco and buy crab legs and a big cake."So, we've been to Costco and we bought some crab legs and a cake.  Now, you know that when you go to Costco, you always buy more stuff even if your... • Hi, I am an accidental wine enthusiast. As part of a major remodeling project including our family room I revived my interest and enjoyment of wine. Our family room was redone using dark hickory planking and the room has a short wall next to our fireplace. This wall has always presented a challenge to make use of the space. I researched and sear... Read More

  • I love all wines and am happy to have found a great community in Snooth.  I had been living in Napa working for a food manufacturer and part time at a winery for fun.  I miss daily wine conversations.  Attached is a picture of 1998 Regusci Cab that I shared with a friend this weekend from my collection.  It was smooth with great fruit, just enou... • Pinot has been a much celebrated topic here on Snooth over the years I've participated, and it's obviously one of the more celebrated grapes in the wine world. It'll no doubt be a story line I plan on focusing on in years to come so I thought I'd start a thread, logging experiences. Sorry in advance, Greg T.Having said that, I've been mostly dis... • I plan on participating in the Lodi Virtual Tasting this week.  So, I figured that a good place to find the wines that are in the VT would be Total Wines. In fact, I did reasonably well and found 3 of the 4.  (Here's a PSA for VT participants.  No driving after this tasting.  The low ABV that I bought was 14.5.  The other two were over 15.)Well,... • Everywhere I turn, I see people talking about 2010 in the Rhone (both north and south).  Lately, I've been on a mission to taste a lot of these wines and so far I've found some good, some bad and some that really would be better poured over pancakes.  In some cases, I've agreed with some of the wines being pushed by the "wine critic illuminati".... • How things have changed. When I first joined Snooth which has been quite a while now I was drinking mainly reds, usually Shiraz and Rioja and not much else. Now I find myself drinking a wide variety and really enjoying every minute.
