Basket Case Wines was started by Chenin and Sean Carlton in 2006. We've been doing the wine thing for a long time, and we've always felt the wine industry has done a lousy job of conveying a very simple truth: it's not about exclusivity, arrogance, elitism, or pomposity. Wine is about having fun. Though we can't make it any more simple than that, we can sure make it easier for you to enjoy than has previously been the case. We don't care what you drink, how you drink it, or whether or not you can put words to what you are tasting. DRINK WHAT YOU LIKE! That's all there is to it. – Description from mriskic

  • As my hobby progresses, I'm thinking of ways to store my bottled wine. I don't have any space to convert to a proper cellar and am reluctant to buy an expensive wine fridge to store 200 bottles. Also, I have no basement. That said, I'm worried about aging my bottles on regular racks or in boxes in the living room or closet, as the house temp is ... Read More

  • And Emark, that's another thing about retirement, right?  Monday or Sunday or Saturday, you can open that special wine whenever you want.  I mean, a George III is usually a special occasion wine, however old and however your procured it.  Oh, Fox, there are just too many good things about retirement.  The list is surely countable, and, even if i... • Hey thanks guys.  I'm just not the type to come on here and talk about it.  I appreciate the condolences however.Fox, I was a bona fide basket-case already!  I use that damn knife every day.  I had just put a brand new blade in. The problem was the force I was using on a little piece of hard plastic trim.  It slipped instead of cutting and the f... • DV, my father cut himself pretty well with a utility knife when I was a kid.  My mother hated them as a result, and shudders whenever my father or I pick one up.  I have about three different models, designed for ease of blade change, or retractability, and one just old fashioned.  I have cut myself many times with every one of them, but never e... • I've been really bad about posting updates on the house. Structurally, we are finished, and all the walls are painted and floors finished. We have stairs, about to have our big Tansu thing in the middle of them, And we've got a dining room that seats twenty pretty easily.  Maybe more.  (Didn't OT say all that garden building was making him lose ... • To press or not to press? That is NOT the question. Rarely does anything in winemaking have an absolute however pressing is one of the few. Grapes must be pressed at some point in the process to release the juice or wine. However, even though grapes must eventually be pressed, it is the when, how and how much that are open to interpretation. Wha... Read More

  • Sean, I was hoping on getting a couple of bottle of your wine [your choice] with your signature on them. I have a roast for Mike Jadrich [60th birthday] on November 19th so my window of opportunity is short. If you can't do it I would understand. If you can... six bottles of your choice... sign a couple of them. I will pay full price plus...
