Description 1 of 1

As the name Piedmont - loosely translated as “at the foot of the mountains” - already implies, this region lies sheltered by the French Alps in the West, the Italian-Swiss Alps to the North and the Ligurian Alps, the Apennines, to the South. The Mediterranean influence from the South and the cool morning and evening fogs from the Po Delta create a unique climate. The soil type on which the vines are cultivated is predominantly clay, with some sand content. The sand allows for optimal drainage and the heavy red clay, through its high water retention, supplies the vines with sufficient moisture during the hottest of summers. This soil was in fact also used to manufacture the bricks for the house, fired, as well as untreated. Tastings by appointment. – Description from Nerevar
