  • Thought this was an interesting mailer I'd share with you all. Already forwarded the e-mail to Fox as he is one of the few champions of Dolcetto that I know. This would also fit in well with the "weekday wines" thread. Fox and I agreeing it's a good week day pasta night wine, or even a 1st wine in a flight of Northern Italian Reds. To all Best W... • I recently spent a few days in Piedmont getting a head start on my annual look ... ... and length. 2010 Azelia Margeria - Deep, powerful and intense, this is packed with dark fruit and just a hint of wood spice, but shows terrific balance 2010 Damilano Cannubi - A touch tight and austere, with attractive red fruits. 2010 Cordero di Montezemol... • Azelia Barolo DOCG 2004

    Snoothrank:

Love the dark purple color. Very big nose--some cigar or leather, some cherry/berry fruit. Surprisingly light on the tip of the tongue. No fruit detected there at all--almost watery. As the wine moves over the tongue some cherry/berry pops up, but not much. Lot's of tannin, now. As a previous reviewer comments, air time helps this wine. T... Read More

  • Paolo Scavino Barolo Bric dël Fiasc 2008

    Snoothrank:

A unique bottling, first time a Riserva was made and this was bottled for charity.Just one barrel of this was produced, all Cappello sommerso, natural yeast fermentation, ten months in fourth passage barrique, then two years in cask, a year longer than the traditional Bric del Fiasc bottling.Dark and pretty one the nose with obvious but not intr... • Barolo San Rocco Azelia Bottle 2004

    Snoothrank:

brilliant ruby red and on the nose kept getting all sorts of strange notes of sour cherry, dried papaya, black and red pepper. A hot and vinous wine. Red cherry and red berries on the palate. All up-front lacking finish. Although was not overly impressed I would like to see how this would evolve in a few years! Overall a great easy to drink Barolo. Read More
