In a world where wines are generally produced with the same grapes, the same technology, the same wood for ageing and above all the same consultants, our aim is to obtain a wine which is the expression of the vineyard it comes from, of the grapes it was made of, and above all of our own ideas. In order to achieve this, we have chosen a natural approach, with a moderate use of technology, without changing the nature of the wine with special procedures. We have attached new importance to old oak barrel ageing making choices entirely by ourselves. – Description from ASCHERI MATTEO

  • Ascheri Barolo Sorano Coste & Bricco 2001

    Snoothrank:

Jammy on the nose in an oddly meaty and spicy way and while theres not a lot of fruit here, there are lovely licorice root note along with hints of mint and orange peel Smooth, polished and crisp in the mouth with and fine black fruit that shows some earthy spice on the back end. This shows great balance in a restrained yet brooding way. Attract... Read More

  • Giacomo Ascheri Podere di Sorano Barolo 2008

    Snoothrank:

Tight and polleny nose with a bit of black olive and black tea, with small wild cherry fruit lurking underneath. This is light and fresh on the palate with an emerging herbal tone over the fresh strawberry and plum fruit, cut by mineral and licorice notes with some dried orange pith. The finish is clean and fresh, continuing to add nice cut and ... Read More

  • Ascheri Sorano 2006

    Snoothrank:

Ascheri Sorano -- Seared fruit, pure, hard, some wood, integrated nose, closed in the mouth. Hard, pure, elegant, balanced, deep fruit, light though, very fresh, precise, long, nice tannins. This is hiding but could be really good. Read More
