Arrowood Vineyards and Winery was founded by Richard and Alis Arrowood in 1986. Just two years later, they had made their first wine. Arrowood’s success was not random - Richard was the first winemaker of the iconic Chateau St. Jean, before he dedicated himself completely to Arrowood in April 1990.

Located just outside the town of Glen Ellen, in Sonoma Valley, Arrowood prides itself on its connection to Sonoma County. While it sources its grapes from a number of different regions, all of them are located within Sonoma County. It buys grapes from Sonoma Valley, the Russian River, Alexander Valley, Dry Creek, Knights Valley, and Carneros.

Thanks to her hard work and background in chemistry, Heidi von der Mehden, winemaker at Arrowood, has played an integral role in the success of many wineries. Ever since she started working as a lab tech for Kenwood Vineyards in 2000, her life has been tied to grapes.

Smells like blackberry, plums and dark spices. Full bodied with a peppery earthy taste with a smoky leathery hint. and got more fruity as it opened up. Yummy but I wish I waited a little longer!
