Arnot-Roberts was founded in 2001 in Healdsburg, CA by childhood friends, Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts. The focus is on small lot, vineyard designated Cabernet Sauvignons and Syrahs from some of Northern California's most incredible vineyards. Sites are carefully chosen and are generally on the cooler end of the spectrum for the planted varieties. Collaboration with dedicated and passionate growers is paramount in the farming of these sites. Duncan and Nathan grew up around winemaking in the Napa Valley. Nathan is a second generation cooper and personally builds all of the French oak barrels that are utilized in the ageing of all Arnot-Roberts wines. Visiting the forests in France each year and working in conjunction with the stave mills there, Nathan is able to select the premium lots of oak to bring back to California and assemble into the barrels for the coming vintage. Over the years Duncan has worked making wine in the Napa Valley in wineries like, Caymus, Groth, Acacia, Kongsgaard and Read more »

  • A new year provides the perfect opportunity to try new things, but how far will you go?  Many wine drinkers cling to familiar grape varieties or settle for what’s in easy reach. Don’t miss out, wine lover. There are between 5,000 and 10,000 varieties of Vitis Vinifera, the plant species responsible for nearly all wine grapes, planted around the ... Read More

  • OT is showing off with that Ultramarine, because no one can get it now.  ... I had a pretty terrific 2011 Arnot Roberts Griffins Lair Syrah last night.  Oddly, I haven't been drinking a lot of Syrah this year, been hoarding my Myriads, Halcons, Apsaras and the smattering of N. Rhones I can still lay down.  This was probably the best Syrah I've... Read More

  • Okay, we're counting down to the end of the year.  With three drinking weeks left, start nominating your wines of the year.  And, if you like, nominate a wine experience of the year. I'm going to have to think about the WOTY for a while, and I'll update this OP as things occur to me, but I'm going to say it wasn't a year full of head turning win... A field blend of Sylvaner, Green Hungarian, Riesling, Berger, Gewurtztraminer, and French Colombard among others. Great spice on the nose and palate gave it a nice edge to the creamy fruit. The 2... • There's not a lot of Trousseau (Bastardo) panted in California, less than 10 acres, so these are kind of on the rare side. The Luchsingers in Lake County have an acre or so, The Fanucchi Vineyard in Fulton a couple, Wells Guthrie of Cooain has grafted over 6 acres of his estate bineyards and Tegan Passalacqua if Turley/Sandlands an acre in the B... • On night two of this Clary Ranch Syrah from Arnot-Roberts.About as cool climate as you can get with California Syrah. This is a really tasty wine. Loads of briny black olive and chewy stems framed by blue fruit and zippy acidity all wrapped in fine but grippy tannins. It could go a few more years but the level of acid and stemminess likely will ... Read More

  • Here's a weekend wine... pricey but sooooo worth it!  We just were at Windy Oaks last weekend to pick up our wineclub.  Gorgeous day, we trekked to the top of the ridge again, and there was literally no sound except the wind in the oaks- sat up there in chairs- no one around.  It's funny how we become accustomed to white noise, but at that eleva...
