  • So far I’ve worked my way through a pretty impressive set of wines that ... who meets Arianna Occhipinti can’t help but be amazed by what this young woman has achieved. A finer ambassador for Sicilian wine and natural farming would be challenged to find, based on her wines of course. While I am partial to her SP68 Bianco in particular, her Frap... Read More

  • Arianna Occhipinti Nero d'Avola Siccagno Sicilia IGT 2010

The nose showed tremendous depth with black cherry, wild herbs, hints of brown sugar, sweet floral tones and minerals, making it intense yet fresh all at once. On the palate, it was rich with dark fruit caressing the senses, showing black cherry and spiced holiday breads, (not sweet but dark and spicy with hints of molasses). The finish followed... • It’s strange as I sit here in the same backyard that I grew up in. I feel ... recently, I enjoyed the 2010 Arianna Occhipinti Nero d'Avola Siccagno Sicilia IGT with great success.  It’s simply a match made in heaven. Nero d’Avola’s rustic, dark fruit and brisk acidity gives you all the contrast you need to handle the wide array of flavors and t... Read More

  • Frappato Tami 2012

This unique wine bounds with natures abundance. 100% Frappato. opens up with a glowing nose of red fruits like just ripe red plums, strawberries and raspberries, but then reveals caramel and deeper plum flavors. Medium body but completely fulfilling with a persistent finish. Paired very well with Sicilian cheese, Primo Sale Pepato and an aged P... Read More

  • Occhipinti Sp 68 Bianco 2011

The nose of this wine is an odd combination of burnt eraser/roasted white fruit (carmelized poached pear?) and the trees that are flowering right now in nyc; very fresh, lively, sweet floral undertones that transitions awkwardly onto the palate with rim of creamy acidity. It's worth a try, but not if you're against awkward wines. Read More

  • Sp68 IGT Sicilia Rosso Arianna Occhipinti 2009

Ordered this at Franny's on Flatbush to go with difficult mix of summer veggies, meats and seafood. Matched almost everything perfectly. Served with a slight chill, cherry, raspberry, a little chocolate and smoked meaty flavors. Just the right amount of toasty oak to round it out. Flavors really pop! Read More

  • Arianna Occhipinti Grote Alte 2008

In effect, a Cerasuolo Riserva Nero dAvola and Frappato blend.Floral on the nose with an up front pine needle note, which is covered by red currant and berry fruits. Velvety in the mouth with nice power and good density without much weight. The fruit is quite dark, recalling black cherry and black raspberries with a very refined, elegant feel. W... Read More
