Prospecting the New World's coolest latitudes, Brian Croser and Rollin Soles staked a claim in Oregon's Willamette Valley, a place ideal for late season ripened Pinot Noir and Chardonnay fruit. Since 1987, Argyle Winery has produced world-class methode champenoise Sparkling wine, barrel fermented Chardonnay and 'silky' textured Pinot Noir from low yielding vines on winery farmed hillside slopes. Argyle was named "OREGON'S PREMIER WINERY" by Wine Spectator in 2000. Argyle farms three vineyards: Knudsen Vineyard, Stoller Vineyard and Lone Star Vineyard. The 120 acre Knudsen Vineyard was first planted between 1972 & 1974. The high elevation blocks of this landmark Dundee Hills site are key components in Argyle's sparkling wines. Knudsen provides Argyle a mix of old vine blocks and new high density blocks planted with "Old World" Dijon clones. Just south of Knudsen Vineyard in the Dundee Hills sits Stoller Vineyard. First planted in 1995, Stoller, like Knudsen Read more »

  • Argyle Chardonnay Nuthouse 2008

From Argyle:Our good friends in Burgundy are always excited when they can get the elusive aroma and flavor of toasted hazelnuts in their Chardonnays. In this example of the Nuthouse Chardonnay we have captured just that. Those hazelnuts are complimented by a toasted marshmallow, ripe cantaloupe, and Bosc pear on the nose. Look for the ripe white... Read More

  • Argyle Willamette Valley Brut 2007

Yet another winner from the Argyle team. Having spent time in the Champagne region of France I have learned a thing or two about sparkling wine. The 2007 Brut is a very fine sparkling wine, crisp and clean with an abundance of peach nuances, this sparkler is ready for a party now or NYE 2013! Read More

Nose, this acts very new world, cranberries and some strawberries going on in here, some heat coming through! Midpalate, again tacking into account this is pinot noir, this wine has a lot of body (almost like merlot!), some charcoal flavors coming th... Read More

  • Last year I was fortunate to attend a seminar here in New York City entitled, “The Multiple Personalities of Oregon Pinot Noir.” It was in part responsible for my essay on vintage variation, which I think is worth a read. The core of the day’s event consisted of a series of three blind tastings that were to highlight the various elements that co... Read More

  • Nuthouse 2008

A bit creamy on the nose with a lovely citrus and floral base that screams orange rind and blossoms. the red fruit and an earthy edge moves in with a little bit of air. Fresh and crisp in the mouth with a hint of orange cream accenting the bright raspberry fruit. There are enough tannins here to reward cellaring for a bit but they are very finel... Read More
