Antucurá means “Sun Stone” and Calvulcura means “Blue Stone” in old Mapudungun language. Mapudungun (mapu means 'earth' and dungun means 'to speak') was the language used by the Pehunenches, the first inhabitants of the area where the Antucurá winery stands today in the Uco Valley in Argentina. The owners chose that name for their winery and vineyards because the grapes grow and develop naturally between the stones and rocks. The winery sits below the Andes Mountains using ancient viniculture traditions and new vinification technologies, to produce premium wines. – Description from mriskic

Antucura on Snooth

  • Ah, another day of relaxation.  I enjoyed a 2.5 hour massage today, ... flight and the Antucura Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendoza  was really excellent.   With the flight I had the Salumi Piccante flat bread and a lobster tail appetizer.  I got a full glass of the cab (that's part of the deal) and then ordered another glass since it was so tasty.... • Antucura Malbec 2012

    Snoothrank:

Unfortunately, I think that the bottle was a bad one, not terrible or completely undrinkable, but a certain barnyard funk on the nose and in the taste, with a color that was a bit brownish, rather than the brilliant purple/garnet typically present in others. Too bad, because what was noticeable besides the funk, was a great Malbec Full Bodied, L... Read More

  • Antucura Malbec Vista Flores -Mendoza 2012

    Snoothrank:

New to wines and just beginning to tell different varieties apart and direct my choices. My favorites so far are Malbec. I must confess that I still prefer French Cahors to Argentinian Malbecs, but this one is pretty good. I think it will improve after a couple of years and it seems a little young currently, but still very impressive. Read More

  • Antucura Malbec Vista Flores Antucura 2010

    Snoothrank:

This is a wine to be reckoned with! The nose offers a more diffuse selection of aromas than most malbecs, ranging from green plum on the sharper side to broiled eggplant on the mustier side. It's a tad hot and rough in the mouth, with high alcohol, but the dark berry flavors are fulsome, intense, and long-lasting. (AV 89, http://argovino.com/?p=... Read More
