Andrew Will Winery was started in 1989 and is owned by Chris Camarda. The winery was launched out of a love for wine that Chris had developed while working in the restaurant trade for almost 20 years. Named after the Camardas’ son Will and nephew Andrew, Andrew Will has been a major contributor to the success and notoriety in recent years of Washington State wines. Initially, the winery consisted of 900 square feet of rented industrial space in Seattle. In the early days, everything was done by hand from shoveling grapes into crushers, to labeling and delivering the wine. In 1994, the Camardas moved to Vashon Island, a short ferry ride from Seattle, where they built the present winery. They now have two buildings which allow them to make about 4300 cases of wine a year. They have also purchased land in Eastern Washington and planted 36 acres in grapes. Andrew Will makes Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese. As Chris Camarda has developed his style of winemaking over the years Read more »

Carnivores and grillers, a few reasons to love Syrah: it’s a fantastic wine for pairing with any roasted meats, especially red meats like beef and lamb, as well as wild game. It is often peppery and sometimes smoky, with a roasted fruit and/or roasted meat flavor profile that makes it a fine accompaniment to anything barbecued or grilled (even, ... Read More

Andrew, it seems like you have something that not too many people have ever heard of. It drove me to the Murrielle web site. This is what I found about the Blueberry Pinot Noir:Sideways meets the high bush country. One of our retail clients said this wine "Blue" her away, it was that good. We agree. The Pinot Noir is exactly as you would expec... Read More

My group Schreiner's Winers explored the wines of A.P. Vin for the 2011 vintage. Andrew Vingiello crafts these wines at a facility in San Francisco and they are all outstanding wines. Ageworthy and built to stand the test of time and always fresh due to the use of Stelvin caps. He sources from some of the (arguably) top Pinot sites form Sonom... Read More

This highly perfumed, deeply fruited Bordeaux blend possesses the seamless fruit-structure integration that I have come to expect from Washington. The tannins are silky and the acidity bright, keeping the expansive breadth on the palate and significant extraction in check. Read More

But since there was some Syrah talk going on I thought I'd start a new thread on Cool Climate Syrah.Tonight I'm visiting a wine I haven't had in since May and wanted to see how it is progressing. It comes from high up atop the Yorkville Highlands in the Anderson Valley which is in ... Read More

Andrew Will is definitely a benchmark winery for this region and Ciel du Cheval a benchmark vineyard. Together the make a wonderful example of a "Right Bank" style Bordeaux Blend. Words like sharp, focused and precise come to mind when drinking this wine. It's wine in HD. Cab Franc brings his herby, minerally soul to the party counterpointed... Read More

Sean Sullivan recently published and updated a list of his top 100 or so wines of 2012, with predictable results. Cayuse, Quilceda Creek, Leonetti all occupy the top 3 spots, followed by a few mid tier standards like Betz, Reynvaan, Maison Bleue, Grammercy. Well, I should say I'm just starting to get to know these names and also starting to buy ... Read More
