André is an iconic brand of American sparkling wine that has been produced by E. & J. Gallo in California since the mid 1960s. The wine was first created to introduce Americans to affordable sparkling wines in an effort to compete with imported Champagne. In fact, André is one of the wines that gave the Champagne district in France impetus to brand themselves, declaring anything other than sparkling wine made in Champagne is just sparkling wine. That said, André remains a popular alternative, and since its inception is now available in a wide variety of styles including rosé and from dry to sweet.

  • Chateau Bonnet Bordeaux Rouge 2014

The Bonnet Rouge (Lurton stable, as Hugh Johnson might put it) is a very decent, mass produced Bordeaux A. C. - there is spicy blackberry and perhaps sweet plum on the nose, and following entry, the wine has sweet cherry, cedar plank and mild lignin (oak). Rich and quite satisfying for regular A. C. - one of the best for the price, methinks. Ig... Read More

  • Figuiere Premiere Rose Cotes de Provence 2017

Crisp and fresh aromas of white blossom and fruit notes of cherry and strawberry with some tart cranberry. Light and refreshing palate of medium acidity with some oak notes. Fruit character of cherry and watermelon, again nicely crisp and easy drinking with a bit of well integrated wood spice towards the warm finish. 89 pts Read More
