André is an iconic brand of American sparkling wine that has been produced by E. & J. Gallo in California since the mid 1960s. The wine was first created to introduce Americans to affordable sparkling wines in an effort to compete with imported Champagne. In fact, André is one of the wines that gave the Champagne district in France impetus to brand themselves, declaring anything other than sparkling wine made in Champagne is just sparkling wine. That said, André remains a popular alternative, and since its inception is now available in a wide variety of styles including rosé and from dry to sweet.

  • At my folks house in Michigan celebrating Mom's 88th B-day. They are not ... drinkers, usually a glass of Andre Cold Duck on New Year's Eve so I know they wouldn't care for anything overly expensive. • Andre Lurton Chateau Bonnet Blanc Rv Aoc Entre-Deux-Mers Bordeaux France 2009

    Snoothrank:

Hmmm. I would not have thought that a 2009 would last this long from Entre-du-Mers, but last it did. Wonderful confit fruit on the nose and palate... not unlike an Aussie (aged) Semillon. I picked up a few of these on sale and should have chosen more. The Lurton pedigree shows... 87 points. Read More
