Smell A strong dark fruit scent. Taste A heavy, velvety texture that has gentle tannins. Pruney (currant?) flavor. The taste lingers and lingers and changes with time, becoming softer, and especially strong on the lower sides of my tongue. Overall I have not yet given this wine time to breathe, but it has a distinct, smooth, and _good_ taste at the first pour. It's strong and lacks the distinct bitterness found in other cabs.    (hide)

Selected this for our weekly beef fest and it was a terrific match. While I wouldn't call this an easy drinking cab, I would gladly drink this on its own or with some serious cheese.    (hide)

Silky and refined yet powerful and classically structured, this wine is already sensational. Deep, ripe, spicy, lip-smacking berry, cassis, and plum fruit flavors cascade over the taste buds, and there's even a subtle lead-pencil component there for added complexity.   Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery Merlot Alexander Valley 2003

  Snoothrank:

  Cracked open a bottle of this wine yesterday. Not sure how long I've had it but it was properly stored. This wine had a beautiful red fruit bouquet with a lush velvet mouthfeel and a smooth lingering finish with red fuit permeating throughout.

  Starlite Alexander Valley Zinfandel 2006

  classic upfront zinfandel smoothness but then it just falls apart. disjointed with lots of alcohol heat and a sharp bitter acidity. I even get some V8 flavors. at $42 it drinks like an $8 zin. it may need some time in the cellar
