  • Frei Brothers Reserve Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

    Snoothrank:

A damn fine bottle of wine. Maybe the best I've had from that winery. Plenty of firm, dark berry firm, chewy tannins and a core of cedar, chocolate and spice with good acidty for a puckering mouthwatering finish. Really good for the money. Drink or hold - Paul 91 points Read More

  • Toby Lane Vineyards Rose Alexander Valley 2013

    Snoothrank:

Solid wine built along the lines of a weaker red than a rose. Aromas of cherry and raspberry mix with anise, chocolate and spice - though they are heavier, it is still a refreshing wine. Drink now - Paul 86 points Read More

  • Alexander Valley Vineyards Merlot 2011

    Snoothrank:

Had at lunch at Cafe Pacific in Dallas, A good California Merlot - and for the price, almost unbeatable. Loads of fruit on the nose - along with coffee, cola, and a roasted plum prune. Medium Tannins and Acidity, with a good balance of Fruit and Oak. Very easy to drink. Read More

  • It is interesting how effective a vessel cement is. I heard an interview with Alexander Thienpot of Vieux Chateau Certan in Bordeaux, where he said cement is the best for fermentations, but we don't use it. Struck me as very interesting. Maybe it's an aesthetic/labor motivated decision. Read More
