Alban Vineyards is a wine estate in Edna Valley in San Luis Obispo County, California. Winemaker John Alban is credited with being one of the first Californians to plant the Rhone varietals Viognier, Rousanne, and Syrah in 1989. His successful pioneering efforts led the way for the California Rhone Ranger movement and have since been a significant source for these varietals for other winemakers and his own Alban Vineyards label. He sources Mourvedre and Grenache from Paso Robles where hotter conditions are more conducive to growing those grapes. Apart from white and red single varietal releases and blends, Alban also produces a dessert wine with botrytis grapes called Rotten Luck.– Description from Mimi Kim
