Italian Nicola Catena founded this business in 1902 and it is still in her family today. It  is now a state-of-the art winery located in Vista Flores, Mendoza, Argentina. Felipe Stahlschmidt is the chief winemaker. Grapes are grown in the high altitude slopes of Mendoza and hand-selected for quality, ensuring only the best grapes are used. They are then vinified using precise details which preserve their inherent flavors and aromas. All of this contributes to a high quality, value-driven wine. Alamos produces Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Torrontes in young and reserva styles.

  • Alamos Malbec Seleccion 2014

Blackberry jam and maple leaves on the nose with a soft spice. A bit floral on the palate with soft jammy fruit notes of raspberry and strawberry and a shifting, earthy note coming through the mid palate and drying out the finish that delivers more red fruit notes of ripe cherry and plum. • I've tried numerous Alamos and Catena over the years as I can get them pretty cheap in South Florida on sale. I like big wines but...... The big Malbec fruit and the harsh tannins is a kill joy for me even for a daily drinker. I usually look towards Spain or Chilean for my daily QPR's.  Read More
