Since its inception, several generations ago, Domaine Alain Voge has always been a family domain located in Cornas. In 1958, Alain Voge joins his father to work in the small typical farm. He decides to specialise in wine. At this time, this is an audacious decision: despite their history, the CORNAS and SAINT PERAY appellations are forgotten sleeping beauties. Very quickly, Alain overthrows habits. He extends his vineyards in places which had remained uncultivated over the last 30 years and develops the sales of his bottled wines. Supported by his wife Eliane, he visits the best national and regional restaurants to make his wines known. Thanks to their quality and to Alain Voge’s creative approach, the domain’s reputation rapidly increases. Yesterday, as today and tomorrow, our philosophy is to practice a hand made viticulture on the slopes of the Rhône right bank, dedicated to Syrah and Marsanne. Our wines are the expression of their terroir, for the pleasure of lovers, all over the world. – Description from mriskic

  • Okay, broke the moratorium.  Here's why:WTSO for $30 a bottle.  ... a steal at the price I paid (Alain Voge VV Cornas is currently selling for almost $100 a bottle), so nice customer service, eh?  That credit was about $70, so that meant I picked up three bottles of 2010 Ghisolfi Bussia Barolo for... $20. Reason enough to end the SIWB Read More

  • No mystery I love Syrah and got turned onto it some years ago by a N. • Rad.  Haven't heard that word in a while.  I think I was wearing ... I have Cornas covered--2007 Alain Voge VV. I am also bringing two mystery wines--one from Cali, the other I will not say.  I'll drop the Cali if it looks like overkill. I'm more about N. Rhone v. Cali, and not really St. Joseph in particular, since I think it's distinct from ... Read More

  • Okay, I'm not bringing ANY Cali Syrah because it's duplicative of OT ... to bring a bottle of 2007 Alain Voge Cornas Vielles Vignes.  And I'll probably bring it by ahead of time so OT can decant it ahead of time, because my expectation is that it might still be pretty rough.  I've also got an '07 Cote Rotie Cote Rozier from Bonnefond that I co... • Of course, Emark.  Who can afford them?  That's the point I'm ... ... thru discounters (the Alain Voge--which now sells for 2x what I paid) or from up and coming producers right before the scores hit (the Durands).  I think decent Cornas is now going to be over $50 for basic bottles like these, and it will remain cheaper than Hermitage and C-R... • I love N. Rhone Syrah.  It's my favorite red wine in France.  But the acreage of the region is so small and the area that provide its best wines even smaller, that prices have hit the roof.  Sure, there are a few St. Josephs and Crozes-Hermitages that come in around $25, but those are either made for earlier drinking and a lot less thrilling wit...
