  Big, Juicy, and Jammy! Not an earthy Syrah, but if you love fruit-bombs this wine is for you. The tannins are soft and velvety, but noticible on the back-end. Love this wine!

The nose was really fragrant - scents of freshly crushed raspberries, blueberries, and vanilla. The flavors matched the nose. Definitely new world, with explosive fruit. It lacks the spiciness typical of syrah, and a syrah-lover might find this a negative. There was also a faint cork taste, which might be an issue with the cork. Also a slight bitter after taste at the finish. I really like this wine, but would hesitate to buy it at the $30 price point. Many Aussie shirazes with equal or better quality can be bought for $18-$20, take for example one of my shiraz favorites, Torbreck Woodcutter's Shiraz. But, I'm not surprised since I do find that California wines tend to come at a higher price point, which I'm sure is just due to the pure economics of maintaining a winery in the CA area.    (hide)
