Across the Lake's first vintage was in 2002, but we did not exhibit until 2003, when it won a bronze award at the Mount Barker Qantas Wine Show. 2004 was an exceptional vintage, winning silver awards at the Perth Royal Show and Mount Barker Show. The 2005 vintage confirmed that the Lake Grace area is suited to wine growing, with our first Gold Award at Western Australia's premier Qantas Wine Show in Mount Barker. The 2007 Shiraz won a Silver Trophy for the 2nd best Shiraz in WA at the Sheraton Wine show. – Description from AlexJelena

  • Hi, I'm Bruce.  I'm a UC Davis graduate of enology (26 years ago..alas) and have recently joined Snooth.  I was a former winemaker and enologist at two wineries on Long Island during the 1990s and am now semi-retired in Sarasota, FL.I'm still working in the wine trade, part-time in retail, but otherwise retired.  I'm still active in wine and eno... • Viewed them all--good work! Do you know where and when the 'Heroic' description first was used? Will there be any followup, such as on the work in the cellar? Would also be interested in hearing more about the weather in Valais. I've spent a lot of time in Geneva, and during the autumn and winter it seems to be continually overcast (leading almos... • Hi everyone! Let me introduce myself briefly. I come from Valais (the viticole area in the South of Switzerland), but I'm currently studying cinematography in China. I had to make a documentary as a homework assignment so I decided to develop the subject of "Heroic Viticulture" (mountain viticulture) from Valais.I've just uploaded my work online... Read More

  • I spearheaded this incredible custom design last month. The ambient temperature in my region is approximately 55 degrees throughout the day; ideal for harnessing the explosive potential lurking within this vast selection. The tight seal on this cellar door makes for the perfect, dank environment. I have plans to expand later this year. Okay, eno... Read More

  • Perhaps we can throw all sorts of wines in here with a mysterious WTF factor, whether photos of the wine, its label, logo, descriptions or what have you. Who knows what they might be? I'll start things out. From the opening scene of the current episode of a well-received TV show: what is this wine? Does it actually exist? What, if anything, is wr... Read More

  • I believe that folks might already have gleaned that I am somewhat of a Zinfandel fanatic but some of my previous posts. In truth my job has resulted in my drinking less, not more Zin but left to my own devises that would not be the case. Zinfandel remains for me the greatest American wine, both for the sheer joyousness of the wine and the histo... Read More

Forum post in the topic Does Wine Make You Over-Weight?

  • As many of you might know I am half Italian, with family that comes from the province of Trentino in northern Italy. It’s where the seeds for my love for wine were originally planted, and there are plenty of fabulous wines produced there. Though little of it finds it’s way to our shores. That is slowly changing but the truth is there is only so ... Read More
