  • La Tunella has incredible body and flavor. It is not too sweet and gives a warm finish I can only describe as comforting. ....a good wine to feel cozy with. Read More

  • Last vertical I had was '80 thru '84 PN reserve, five and a half years ago. They showed little sign of flagging then, far from it, and a couple were not yet near their peak. Haven't tasted any since then, unfortunately, because that was the last of my stock.  :-( Read More

  • Dick Graff's plane-crash death in the latter '90s and lesser successors to him both in vision and winemaking skill made Chalone's sale to Diageo last decade unfortunate but not too surprising. Diageo, of course, doesn't seem to care about vision and great winemaking, or winemaking at all for that matter, and is currently getting out of the busin... Read More

  • Navarro Vineyards Pinot Gris Anderson Valley Mendocino 2012

    Snoothrank:

Very tasty Mendocino pinot gris from Navarro. On the nose is a bit of orange marmalade and honey suckle. For a '12 this is still fresh with notes of lemon cream, some tropical fruit, kiwi, lively acidity and a medium finish. Read More

  • She has to have when you consider that she has to entertain other heads of state and other crowned heads on a regular basis. ie several times a year. There were almost 200 people at this dinner so I imagine a lot was consumed. A few years ago there was a tv documentary about the monarchy and they interviewed the Queen's somelier. He said that the... Read More

  • Not really under $20, sometimes I cook with Bella Serra and think it's fine to drink too for under $10 even, but if you're ever up for a special bottle $40+ of Pinot Grigio I'd recommend Radikon. They make the wine through organic processes and usually give the wine plenty of skin contact which makes the appearance more of an orange color. Anyho... Read More
