  • Well done!  This is the kind of article that's a pleasure to read.  Good information that isn't regurgitated crap from myriad wine websites.  Nice graphics too.  My mouth was watering near the end. Read More

  • EM - I'll take that bet.  Go check out a Von's though - one place we used to buy groceries in Southern California when we lived there.  Why did you cross them out?  Are they out of business now?I should be posting something later today.  It's massage Thursday and surely I will enjoy a glass of wine with a nice lunch after the grueling 2.5 hour m... • Looks like a most excellent wine tasting there OT.  I would be most interested in tasting those two Chardonnays, even though I drink mostly red wines.  Today I was able to sell my 2004 Pitbull chopper to a guy that lives about an hour south from me.  He gave me a low-ball offer and I only got him to come up a little bit, so it's a bittersweet ki... • The Ojai Vineyard Syrah Special Bottling John Sebastiano Vineyard 2011

Quite dark purple. Noticeable vininess in the nose. Under the palate, I get a hit of that vininess along with a light hit of red fruitcherry, plumbut neither are overwhelming. Towards mid- to back palate Im getting a kind of light herbalnessmint(?). Good acid makes this a sturdy wine. Read More

  • Los Dos Muscat Chardonnay 2013

A touch herbal on the nose with light apricot notes. There's a bright candied pop on entry here that's quite floral and sugary, even though this is a dry wine. It's more perfumed and like sour candy than it is literally sweet. There's also some lemon notes to finish. Read More

  • Tramin Chardonnay 2013

A hint of nuttiness on the nose is paired with green apple and lemon notes. Very straightforward and approachable palate, mostly notes of lemon and green apple but with a touch of peach as well. Read More

  • Just when you thought the artisanal food craze was going quiet, someone decided to rope wine into the storyline. Wine ice cream is coming on like gangbusters, as evidenced at last month’s Summer Fancy Food show in New York City. Mercer’s, a dairy in upstate New York, has been crafting wine ice cream since 2008. Their wine ice cream (clocking in ... Read More
