  • LuckyLucy, well done!Yesterday was a busy one for us. We had 5 different events to attend but in the end we had to pare it down for sanity's sake bypassing Carlisle and Bedrock pick-up days. We started off doing a drive-by at the Gracianna Holiday Open House where we chatted with friends, munched on some small bites and drank Sauv Blanc. From the... Read More

  • Good looking bottle but I will not up load the pic because I received a harassing PM stating that my pics are sideways. Although I have seen recent sideway pics form others. Cheers! Tell them to buy a better computer/tablet and get over it.  Read More

  • Today, while still in progress, is a busy one.  We started off at noon with a blind tasting at RdV Vineyards, the only Virginia winery we are members of.  I think this is the second or third blind tasting we've attended and they are quite exceptional.  The idea is that RdV puts a few of their wines against some other higher-end wines of similar ... • In your picture we cannot read the vintage year? It is obviously a very old bottle though. The straw basket ,known as a 'fiasco' in Italian is rarely used today. The only thing to do is to try the wine but do not be too surpriseed if it is undrinkable Read More

  • Welcome, as the others have said. Tell us the story behind your collection, because it sounds better than what a 'novice' would ordinarily have. What other bottles do you have?'83 is, IMHO, a fine vintage. Totally overshadowed by '82, but because of that you can get excellent bottles for a lesser price. I've had several Margaux from that vintage... Read More

  • If it's never been opened then resealed you've lost an awful lot of juice from evaporation over the years. NOT a good sign. Plus it was never an expensive wine in the first place, nor one built to last 50 years. It will be thin and weak, perhaps tasting like thinned and and very weak vinegar. Though with the color as it is I wonder if the bottle... Read More

  • Oh sorry.  I thought AR was Arizona.  I'm in Canada, so I don't know all the States' abbreviations. The wine is certainly not worth anything.  Even if it were kept in ideal conditions, it probably wouldn't be worth selling.  I'd just continue using it as a decoration, or pull that cap off and try some just to see if it's vinegar (I'm sure it is). • Callaway Cabernet Sauvignon California Coastal 2012

    Snoothrank:

Dark ruby red color with tinges of coppery burgundy. Smooth aromas of ripe berry and red fruits....perhaps some chocolate and hints of alcohol. As this gets air, there is a beefy aroma about it that is distinct, yet it isn't bold! Flavors that are clean and crisp at first but with a little time and air, this becomes quite round, yet light on th... Read More
