In 1845 Prof. Dr. Ludwig Häusser, professor of history at Heidelberg University and a member of the Vorparliament of the Pauluskirche together with his cousin Johann Martin, founded a small winery in Gimmeldingen as a hobby. During the next generation, wine-growing grew to become their main profession. In 1894 Eduard Christmann married Henriette Häusser, the granddaughter of the founder. Today, the Estate bears the name of her son Arnold and is run in the 7th generation by Steffen Christmann . Even with the Estate's size today, the hobby aspect is still an important factor. – Description from dvoristanac

  • Weingut A. Christmann Riesling Trocken Pfalz 2013

Honeyed notes are lightly floral on the nose with elegant classic phenolics. Juicy pear and lemon notes on the mouth, quite dry and full bodied, with hints of pineapple and zesty acidity through the mid palate, landing on peach and citrus with pleasant minerality. Read More

  • A. Christmann Spätburgunder 2009

An outstanding expression of just how good German Pinot Noir can be. Soft red fruit, like cherry, stands out among notes of earth and sweet spices. Medium-bodied, with soft, very light tannins and a long, pretty finish. I love this red with a big plate of charcuterie, or perhaps a roasted chicken with butternut squash. Read More

  • A. Christmann Riesling 2004

This is a wonderfully dry, medium bodied, and golden colored riesling with a peach laden nose and mouthwatering acidity with slight sourness reminiscent of lemon or something citrus. It'll keep you sipping and oh so good! Read More

Not extraordinary. Sweeter than I'd like it to be. Almost tastes like table wine. Read More
