Sean Minor founded Sean Minor Wines and Four Bears Winery in 2005 with a passion for producing wines of exceptional varietal characteristics and expressive terroir distinctiveness. A veteran of the wine industry with more than 22 years experience, Sean Minor’s fine wine career began with Beaulieu Vineyard (BV) in Napa Valley before taking an opportunity to manage Oregon’s King Estate Winery, and later accepting an appointment as President of Benton-Lane Winery. He returned to California to manage Renwood Winery before he and his wife Nicole decided to start their own wine company. Their first offering is under the Four Bears brand, aptly named after their four children. The focus for Four Bears wines is quite simple: Create delicious, approachable wines with expressive, terroir-driven flavors. – Description from Carly Wray

  • OK, just had to spew my cajun dirty rice with Rosso di Montepulciano out my nose when I saw this price list from HDH. Several items here literally were my dailies last decade and the one before it (Caymus, Shafer, Far Niente, Blackbird, Araujo, Verite, Aubert, Hanzell, DuMol, even Dominus--the only ones not particuarly were the Bryant and the Ha... • I know of a number of people in the craft beer world who are purposely introducing brettanomyces into the brewing equation to see how interesting things can get. 'Wild yeast' beers are barely (not) controllable but they are rapidly becoming cult items. Case in point, this quote about a Sierra Nevada brew, taken from Good Morning America: Sierra ... Read More

  • 4 Bears Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2007

    Snoothrank:

This is a very solid bottle for the money. This has classic Napa cab flavor profile but is a touch astringent at first sip. After about 1/2 an hour of air this dissipates. What is left are dark fruits dominated by blackberry. This is a bottle any Napa cab fan will appreciate. Read More

This wine is pouring with flavor! I never thought "tobacco" taste would be so good but probably because of the chocolately cherry flavors. This is my current favorite wine! Read More

  • I'm vaugely thinking about a visit to the USA and Canada maybe early next year. I should note that it's still very, very much a vague plan, and nothing is set in stone -- but I do have to decide what I'd like to do first so I can see whether it's all actually workable. Naturally visiting a couple of wine regions in both countries will be part of... Read More

  • My last email had me in Montepulciano, enjoying the wine, and the view. It really is a wonderful view, high above the rolling fog with other hilltop villages in the distance. Enchanting. Unfortunately the time comes when one must leave Montepulciano on high, and continue on one’s way. Which in my case lead to additional wineries, and a drive thr... Read More

  • Would be interested in hearing from people here about any redwine and fish, crustacean, mollusk, etc. combinations they/you have found to work successfully. Having been initiated at the beginning of my wine tippling into the traditional white-for-fish, red-for-meat school of thought, I've since found that several reds and roses can work just fin... • Tom Wark, over at Fermentation posted today over how people, usually wineries in his case, sometimes misuse the comments on his blog post to either get his attention or to sneakily collect a few back links to their own site.
